Dixie Glenn Thompson age 74 of Indian River passed away July 20, 2021 at home.

He was born April 5, 1947 in Keokee, Virginia to Dixie and Stella (Shepherd) Thompson.

He was born April 5, 1947 in Keokee, Virginia to Dixie and Stella (Shepherd) Thompson.

Dixie served in Vietnam in the Army. After his service he received his Master’s Electrician degree and worked many years for Johns Manville. He enjoyed travelling and was fluid in Spanish and German. Dixie loved activities and trained in martial arts. He lived off the land and enjoyed the company of good friends. He was a passionate grandfather!

He is survived by his four daughters, Kala (Mark) Hutchinson, Tasha (Aaron) Thompson, Tessa Thompson, and Usaka Thompson; seven grandchildren, Elijah, Liam, Jeremiah, Jason, Liam, Izaiah and a newborn; and three sisters, Sharon (Alan) Buchanan, Deborah (John) Maddox, and Michelle (Tim) Thompson-Hayes.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dixie and Stella; brother, Mitchell Thompson; and granddaughter, Aiyanna Thompson.

A celebration of life will take place at Afton Community Center, 7021 Montgomery Road, on Friday, August 13^th from 1 p.m. till 3 p.m. where Chaplain Dianne Myers will conduct a memorial service at 2:30.

Inurnment will take place on Friday, September 10, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Dayton National Cemetery with Military Honors.
