Mark Witt

Mark Anthony Witt age 74 of Douglas Lake passed away at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey on October 8, 2025.

He was born in Lansing to Duane and Beverly (Grumet) on November 5, 1950.

Mark enjoyed spending time with family and fishing on Douglas Lake, he also looked forward the annual Fourth of July fireworks display he and his family put on over Maple Bay. Mark was a Golden Glove recipient who had a passion for the sport of boxing and encouraged others to take up the sport.

He is survived by his wife, Maryellen; son Ethan Lain; grandchildren, Alexander, Layla, Zoey, Asher and Raegan; two sisters, Marliss Witt and Dawn Witt; his mother, Beverly and his beloved Bawlar. He had a special place in his heart for Maryellen’s children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who called him “Papa”.

Mark was preceded in death by his father, Duane; a son, Joshua Dain and a brother, William.
