Susan Lohela

Susan Beth Lohela age 65 of Cheboygan passed away October 7, 2025 at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey.

She was born in Detroit on December 18, 1959 to Elwood and Vivian (Garrick) Lohela.

Susan was a kind person who loved animals and making people laugh. She recently retired from Meijer after 45 years of employment with them. She found great pleasure in spending time with her family.

She is survived by a brother, Marc (Julie) Lohela of Cheboygan; nieces and nephews, Marc (Katie) Lohela of Holland, Aimee Heilman of Cheboygan, Kevin (Janelle) Cooper of Rochester and Lori (Justin) Carmichael of Rochester; a brother-in-law, Jerry Cooper of Troy; and 13 great nieces and nephews, Jakob (fiancée, Lauren), Kaylee, Kiera, Emma, Ava, Terry, Autumn, Jack, Ruby, Caden, Grayson, Kylee and Colton.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Elwood and Vivian; a sister, Karen Cooper; and her companion of 35 years, Jim.

A celebration of life will take place at Mulligan’s Restaurant in Cheboygan on Saturday, October 18th from 1-4 p.m.
