Melvin Koss passed away peacefully at home on March 31, 2026.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years Barb, his children  Rosalyn (Rick), Rodney (Cindy), Robin (Jason), and Rebecca (Rich) and his #2 son Jim (Ann). His grandchildren Amanda, Ivy, Cooper, Kasey, Jaden (Saskia), George, Paul and Sydney. His bonus grandchildren Shelby and AJ (Savannah) and his bonus great-grandchildren Maisie and Maverick .

He is also survived by his sister Dorothy, brother in law Tom and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Rose and siblings Gerry, Margie, Pat, Jim and Mary.

Melvin was born at home in Belknap Township June 14th, 1944. After graduating from Posen High School he enlisted in the US Navy.

In August of 1963 he wed Barbara Hincka. Together they built their home and their family.

Melvin had an impressive work ethic. He worked at Calcite as a dozer operator until his retirement. During that time, he also worked at building his home and helping others with theirs.

If you knew Melvin, you knew that wherever he was, laughter would be in the room with him. Melvin enjoyed  a good joke and sharing tall tales (and maybe even a drink or two) Melvin was a proud father and grandfather. Always willing to lend an ear, words of wisdom or a helping hand.

Per Melvin’s wishes,  family and friends will have a celebration of his life at a later date.
