1935 - 2025

Judith Ann Rodgers, 89, of Cheboygan passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 12, 2025.

She was born in Detroit on June 7, 1935 to Bradford N. and Muriel F. (Metcalf) Smith.

Judy was raised in Detroit and spent summers at the family cabin on Lake Michigan in Gulliver. This is where she met her husband James when she worked as a waitress at Old Deerfield as a teenager. After marriage they moved down state to pursue education, careers and start a family. She received her teaching degree in 1967 and they moved the family to Gulliver in 1968. She spent her entire teaching career in the Manistique Area School District and retired to enjoy a comfortable life on Gulliver Lake and winters in South Texas. Judy moved to Cheboygan in 2012 to be closer to her 3 succeeding generations of family which brought her tremendous joy. Judy was an active member of Kiwanis and a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church of Cheboygan.

Judith A. Rodgers is survived by: son, Gregg Rodgers; two granddaughters, Jacky Rodgers and Lynette DePeter-Schulz (Adam); and two great granddaughters.

Judith was preceded by her parents; husband, James Rodgers; a son, Guy (Becky) Rodgers; daughter-in-law Gail Rodgers; brother, Brad Smith; and partner, George Videtich.

There will be a private celebration of life for family.
