He was born to Harvey and Beatrice (Taylor) Parris
on May 10, 1932 in Rogers City,
He is survived by:
his wife Joyce L. (Jarman) Parris of Rogers City,
3 sons, Ken (Genia) Carter of Republic, MI,
David (Neva) Parris of Goetzville MI,
Roger (Esther) Parris of Drummond Island, MI,
10 daughters, Jonnie (Mark) Jacobitz of Muskegon, MI,
Brenda (Woody) Hoisington of Windsor, VT,
Tammy (Mike) Miga of Marshall, TX,
Lynnet Benton, Debbie Payne, Ellarie Dodge, and
Alva Claus all of Rogers City, MI,
Victoria (Mike) Mahan of Holland, MA,
Doris Harrington of Hawks, MI, and
Beatrice (Kurt) Folkman of Allen, TX,
36 grandchildren,
20 great grandchildren and
7 great great grandchildren,
He is also survived by brothers Bob Parris, Floyd Parris, Bill Parris and
Dale Parris and sisters Windy Chrzan, Mary Balthazor, Chloe Jezeski,
Delphy Plummer and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by:
both parents,
his brothers Harvey, George, Pat and Albert,
sisters Marlene and Darlene and
daughter Wanda Bartleson-Parris.
Al served in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1959, On August 10,
1968 he married Joyce at his house in Rogers City. Mr, Parris loved
spending time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling,
hunting and riding his Goldwing. He was a member of the Forgotten
Eagles and Onaway VFW Post 5857.
Friends may visit at the Beck Funeral Home on Monday, (April 18th) from
5:00 until 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. followed by a
military tribute offered by the Onaway VFW Post 5857.
Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m.
through time of funeral at 11:00 a.m. with Revs Greg and Karen
Zurakowski officiating.
Burial and Military Honors will take place at the Ocqueoc Township
Cemetery following the luncheon.
Memorials may be given to Alvin’s family for a charity to be selected later,
