1916 - 2015

Angela Daly Crooks
Angela was born August 13, 1916 in Onaway
to Irish immigrant parents,
James and Margaret (Mangan) Daly
and passed away January 30, 2015. She graduated in 1933 from
Onaway High School where she excelled academically and enjoyed
playing basketball and in 1934 she graduated from County Normal
where she was trained to be a teacher. After marrying in 1935, Angela
moved to Rogers City where she raised her six children. She was an
active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Hagensville and the
Rebeccas. From 1958 to 1967, Angela was employed by Doctors A.L. and
Richard Foley as receptionist and bookkeeper, Beginning in 1967 she
worked as office manager for the Law Firm of Jason, Kowalski, Pugh, and
Polk until her retirement in 1977. Angela enjoyed her retirement years,
especially the trip she took to Ireland where she visited many relatives.
Angela had a competitive spirit, enjoyed playing cribbage, and solitaire.
She was an MSU Basketball fan, an avid reader and a jigsaw enthusiast.
In her younger years, she enjoyed music, dancing and bowling. Angela
lived a long, full life and was interested in and amazed with all of the
changes she saw during her lifetime. Angela was an Irish matriarch who
loved her family, her children, her many grandchildren and was very
proud of them, Those who knew Angela will remember her for her sharp
mind, amazing memory, honesty and her integrity, We love and will
miss you Mum,

Angela is survived by her children: Robert (Linda) Urlaub of Rogers City,
Ruth (Erhardt) Schultz of Canada Creck, Barbara Ferrell of Panama City,
Florida, Marilyn Urlaub (Dr. Ansari) of Farmington Hills,Gayle Elowsky
of Onaway, Kathryn Foley (Bob Hook) of DeWitt, Husky Crooks of
Interlochen and Terry Crooks of Traverse City;
Grandchildren: Denise (Don) Eickmeyer, Mark (Shelley) Schultz, Dan
(Monica) Schultz, Mike (Karen) Schultz, Dennis (Joen) Schultz,
Bobbie Urlaub, Jim Urlaub, Kris (Bobby) Lijewski, Randy (Melissa)
Ferrell, Chris Konieczny, Scott (Amie) Konieczny, Jackie (Jim) Brasseur,
Jennifer Elowsky, Jeff Hook, Connie Hook and Jay Hook;
28 Great Grandchildren; 9 Great-Great Grandchildren:
Brothers and Sisters: As the oldest of 11, Angela was very close to her
2 sisters and 8 brothers. She is survived by 3 brothers, Jim (Bette) Daly,
Terry (Jo) Daly, Bill (Carlee) Daly and 1 sister, Kathleen (Dave) Filener;
sisters-in-law, Renee Daly, Shirley Daly, Agnes Kastner and many nieces
and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Floyd Urlaub, Bernard Murphy
and Henry Crooks; grandson, Billy D. Ferrell and son-in-law, Fred
Elowsky.

Angela valued her many friendships and kept in contact with friends and
family via calls and cards. She enjoyed special relationships with Gina
Santini, Mary Froelich, Ardi Mertz, Eileen, Cal, and Terry Sorgatt,
Jeanie and Rich Warwick, and the Paradise kids, Judy, Jackie, Jill, and
Jeff. Angela so enjoyed her visits and years of support from Pastor
Charles Schultz, Shirley Centala, Angie Krajniak and Gail and Ken
Kortman.

Friends may visit at the Beck Funeral Home on Friday from 1:30 through
time of her funeral at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Charles Schultz officiating.

Interment will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery,

Memorial donations may be given to the Onaway Girls’ Basketball Program,
St. John Lutheran Church in Hagensville or Hospice of the Sunrise Shore.
