Anna Wood
1924 - 2021Anna “Ann” Wood age 97 of Naples, Florida formerly Presque Isle passed away September 13, 2021.
She was born July 8, 1924 in Tolna, North Dakota to Richard and Marie (Rundtom) Keating.
Ann was a graduate of Mayville State Teachers College in North Dakota and Wayne State University in Detroit. During the course of her career as an Elementary School Teacher she worked for the Farmington
school district. Ann was passionate about teaching children to read. She also was an avid downhill skier, traveler, quilter, crossword puzzle, Scrabble and Bridge player. After retiring at age 65, she and her husband Robert “Bob” Wood spent six months every year crisscrossing the U.S. in their RV.
Ann is survived by three children; Robert Andrew (Kathey) Michaels of Brooklyn Park, MN, Dianne Marie (Terry) Duval of Escanaba, MI and Richard Vernon (Nancy) Michaels of Naples, FL; four grandchildren, Jon Eric (Rain) Michaels Mountain View, CA, Patrick James (Ellen) Michaels of Halifax, MA, Racquel (Donald) Duval Balsavich of Stafford, VA and Michelle Duval of Lorton, VA; 12 great grandchildren, Lachlan and Brianna Michaels of Mountain View, CA, Makayla, Anthony, Dominic, Daniella, and Annalee Michaels of Halifax, MA, Lorraina, Selah, Josephine, and Dominick Balsavich of Stafford, VA, Christian Duval of Lorton, VA; two nieces, Susan Alden (Gary) Prehm of Zionsville, IN and their two children Elisabeth and Madeline and Kaye Nancy Alden of Lansing, MI and her son Joseph and his family; Julie Alden Montgomery, who preceded her in death, and her son, Nathan Thomason and family of Taylor, MI.
Ann was also preceded in death by her parents, Richard Francis and Marie Keating; her sister, Mildred Julia (Floyd) Alden and brother, Richard Paul (Dorthey) Keating and the absolute love of her life … her husband, Robert Crandall Wood.
Ann will be buried next to her beloved Robert in the Presque Isle Township Cemetery on Wednesday October 6, 2021.
A memorial service will follow at the Grand Lake Community Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Greg and Rev. Karen Zurakowski officiating.
Following the memorial service, a light lunch will be served in the fellowship hall of the chapel.
In lieu of flowers, Ann’s family requests donations in her memory to the Grand Lake Community Chapel.
