Born March 9, 1929, lifelong resident of Rogers City,
the son of John & Clara (Zapezynski) Gapezynski,
He leaves his wife of 65 years, Edith; his 6 sons, Alan (Debra),
Michael (Pamela), Mark (Shannon) of Rogers City, Brian (Christine),
Joel (Beverly) of Grand Rapids and Christopher (Michael) of
San Francisco, California, Four daughters, Katherine (Mark) Carey,
Karen (Stan) Wisniewski of Grand Rapids, Lori (Robert) Darga of
Rogers City and Lisa (Larry) Cole of Grand Rapids.
Grandchildren: Andrea Gapcezynski (Jamin Bishop) of Holland,
Benjamin (Angie) Gapezynski of Nunica, Jacob (Jamie) Gapezynski,
Stephanie (Eric) Brege of Rogers City, Stacey Bennett of Lincoln Park,
Matthew (Jenny) Gapezynski of Rogers City, Michele (Dwight) Forde
of Tecumseh, Adam(Tracy) Gapezynski of Gross Pointe,
Matthew (Brogan) Gapezynski and Chad (Allie) Gapezynski of
Grand Rapids, Jason Wisniewski and Justin (Amanda) Wisniewski of
Grand Rapids, Jenna (Dan) Engle of East Lansing, Megan (Mathew) Bauer
of Rogers City, Ryan Darga of Jacksonville, Florida and Alex Darga of
Rogers City, Brent, Taylor and Isaac Cole of Grand Rapids.
Great-Grandchildren: Jacob Bishop (Andrea); Ella, Ava Gapezynski
(Benjamin); Brady, Cason and Trevor Gapezynski (Jacob); Chelsie,
Austin, Leah Brege (Stephanie); Taylor, Madison Bennett (Stacey);
Dylan & Dustyn Wisniewski (Jason); Elliot, Jillian, Tanisha, Max Forde
(Michele); Ella Gapezynski (Matthew); Olivia Bauer (Megan), Alianna
Darga (Ryan); Amelia and Stanley Engle (Jenna),
Great-Great Grandchildren: Payton Curtis (Chelsic) and
Caleb Bennett (Taylor).
Preceeded in death by his mother and father, 2 sisters Gertrude Kortman
and Evelyn Talaska and 2 brothers John and Gerald Gapezynski,
grandson Michael Keith Gapezynski Jr and great-grandson
Wyatt Mathew Bauer.
Arthur sailed on the US Steel freighters, retiring in 1993 after 47 years.
The last freighter he sailed on was the John G Munson, He was very
active with the Knights of Columbus, fourth degree grand knight and
known for his volunteerism especially cooking at St. Ignatius Catholic
Parish.
Friends may visit at the Beck Funeral Home on Friday, June 2nd from
3:00 until 8:00 p.m. where the Knights of Columbus will lead the rosary
at 6:30 followed by the parish wake service at 7:00 p.m.
Visitation will resume at St. Ignatius Catholic Church on Saturday from
9:00 a.m, until time of Mass at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. James Fitzpatrick
officiating
Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Ignatius Church, school and
Knights of Columbus Chalice fund.
