Audrey Vekaryasz

Audrey Jean (Kowalski) Hilla Vekaryasz age 85 of Rogers City ended her journey here on earth on August 10, 2022.

She was born on January 24, 1937 in Rogers City to Louis and Mary (Kowalski) Hilla.

On February 19, 1955 she married the love of her life, Walter Vekaryasz. They were married 66 years before he passed in April of 2021. Audrey was a hard-working mother of four children. Her home was always spotless. She worked as a nurse’s aide at Rogers City Hospital and the Extended Care Facility for many years. Audrey loved people. She enjoyed to crocheting and knitting. Audrey was an avid reader, she loved her “junk” catalogs and watching games shows on television. She was a devoted member of the Daughters of Isabella.

Audrey is survived by four children: daughters, Dawn Kuznicki, Dale (Duane) Luetzow and Diane (Dan Wenzel) Delekta, and a son, Steve (Mary) Vekaryasz, all of Rogers City; 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; siblings, Shirley Burns, Jean (Greg) Castle, Tom (Darla) Hilla, Ken (Karen) Hilla and Brian (Donna) Hilla; sister-in-law, Kathryn Vekaryasz; brother-in-law, David Vekaryasz; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, brother-in-law, Stanley Vekaryasz; sons-in-law, David Delekta and Ken Kuznicki; brothers, James, Terry and Randy; and a sister, Arlene.

Friends may visit at the Beck Funeral Home on Monday, August 15^th from 10 a.m. through time of her memorial service at 11 a.m.

Inurnment will take place at Mt. Calvary Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials may be given to McLaren Hospice or St. Ignatius Catholic School’s Angel Fund.
