Barbara Nagi
1945 - 2021Barbara Lynn Nagi peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 23, 2021. She passed away while at Otsego Memorial Hospital with luminaries surrounding her, loved ones close by and gentle music playing that she and her beloved husband Raymond loved.
Barbara was born in Detroit Michigan to John and Madeliene Waldecker on August 1, 1945.
She was the fourth of six children. At just over a year old it was determined that her hip joint was not going to develop properly. Being that her father was a tool and die engineer, he created a design to replace her hip joint. The surgical replacement of this joint using that design provided her nearly 75 years of walking freely. Barbara met the man she would marry while working at Diffco Laboratories in Detroit. There was never any doubt that he was the one and on August 16, 1966, they wed at St. John Cantius Church in Delray, Michigan. They lived and loved for nearly 52 years together. Barbara worked at Presque Isle County Council on Aging for 33 years before she retired from her role as Director in August of 2011. She made many friends and loved helping all the senior citizens in the area. She was self-taught in many areas of her work but her caring, and compassion were natural and genuine. She devoted herself to assuring that seniors were treated with respect and dignity while being cared for. In addition to her role as director, she also was very active in the community. She was an active member of St. Dominic’s Church, Zonta, Kiwanis Club and Habitat for Humanity. She also served on the Board of Education for Posen Consolidated School for eight years.
She is preceded in death by her best friend and loving husband Raymond, her parents and brother Jack as well as her wonderful brother-in-law Frank and sister-in-law Mary T.
Barbara is survived by her sons, Tony, and Patrick (Ann), her daughters Angie and Deb (Bill) Brown as well as her four beautiful grandchildren, Chloe, and Sophie Nagi, Will and Evelyn Brown.
Friends may visit at St. Dominic Catholic Church on Monday, June 28th from 10 a.m. through time of her memorial Mass at 11 a.m. with Fr. Arthur Duchnowicz officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Presque Isle County Council on Aging in memory of Barbara Nagi.
