Bennadict Domke

1928 - 2015

Bennadict Clarence Domke, 87, of Ocqueoc
passed on December 22, 2015 at Golden Beach Manor,
Ocqueoc, Michigan.

He was born November 7, 1928 in Ocqueoc, Michigan
to Albert and Anna (Ostrofski) Domke,

Ben was born, raised, retired, and died on the Domke homestead farm in
Ocqueoc overlooking the river, He took over the farm from his parents,
which is now a Michigan Centennial Farm. Ben was a life-long member
of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ocqueoc, a devoted husband, and generous
father. After two years of military service, he returned to Ocqueoc and
worked at the Hammond Bay Biological Station for 30 years. But his
passion was farming; raising cattle, clearing land, and growing crops,
Ben loved celebrating with family gatherings, and really enjoyed dancing
with anyone who could keep up with him. Summer family vacations were
usually spent traveling to South Dakota and western states visiting
relatives. In his retirement years he enjoyed traveling with Carrie to
Europe, Hawaii, and Alaska ~ but she wouldn’t go on an India adventure;
they enjoyed 20+ winters in Yuma, AZ. Ben and his wife, Caroline, were
married on June 15, 1956, in Stickney, SD. She preceded him in death.

Also preceding him were his brothers, Paul, Bruno, Marvel, Morris,
Albert, Herbert ; and sisters, Esther Foldoe, Anna Schwiesow,
Mayend Krey, Josephenia Boboltz, and Marie Allen.

Benedict is survived by:
four sons, Daryl of Grand Rapids, Danny (Gwyn) of Hubbard Lake,
Roger (Mary) of Findlay, Ohio, and Wayne (Cuizhen) of
Park City, Utah;
a daughter, Shelli Kay Domke-Richter of LaGrange, Kentucky;
13 grandchildren, Alisha, Jason, Dannielle, Jessica, Michael, Alyssa,
Lindsey, Mitchell, Ryan, Lawson, Rachel, Westen
and Lilly;
a great-grandson, Benjaman;
one sibling Otis (Shirley) Domke.

Friends and family may visit at the Beck Funeral Home Tuesday,
December 29, from 4 until 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
Visitation will resume Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ocqueoc
from 10 a.m, through time of funeral at 11 a.m, with the
Rev. Lloyd Ziebarth officiating.

Interment will take place at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery beside his longtime
wife, Caroline Margaret (Artz) Domke ~ now they are both Singing &
Dancing with Jesus in Heaven,
