Brenda Sangster
1966 - 2022Brenda Nicole Sangster age 56 of Cheboygan passed away peacefully Monday evening, September 12, 2022 surrounded by members of her family at the Cheboygan Hospice House.
She was born June 5, 1966 in Cheboygan to Walter and Marilyn (Ross) Romanik.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Marilyn.
Brenda married Richard B. Sangster on July 7, 1990 at Sacred Heart Church. Together they had three daughters who survive her: Myranda and Anna Claire Sangster of Cheboygan and Taylor Sangster of Indian River; also surviving include her sister, Marcia (Steven) Romanik Railton of Bradenton, FL; brother, Gregg Romanik of Cheboygan; Brother and Sisters-in-law Kimberly (Aoife Lee) Sangster of Berwyn, IL; Lisa (Donald) White of Traverse City; Christopher (Shaney) Sangster and Mother-in-law Beverly Sangster of Cheboygan; Nieces and nephews: Chase Railton; Josie Railton; Alanna Sangster; Madelyn (Kristian) Sangster Lett, Jacob Gildner and Kathryn Gildner, Tess Romanik, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Brenda attended Cheboygan Catholic High School and was a graduate of Ferris State University. She began her professional career with Lyon and Hackett Attorneys until she was asked by her father in 1989 to join him in running the family businesses which included: Sno-Kist tree Company, Great Lakes Buffalo Company, and Romanik’s Ranch. Most recently, until the time of her death she worked and was part owner of Indian River Log Homes. Brenda gave countless hours in volunteering her time and talents. She was a past Cheboygan County Farm Bureau President; Chairman of Bishop Baraga Eagles Club leading fundraising efforts for Bishop Baraga Schools. She also participated every year with the Sacred Heart Annual Chicken Dinner fundraiser. Brenda loved her hometown, Cheboygan and all the many families and friends she made during her life. She loved boating on the Cheboygan waterway and great lakes. She particularly enjoyed road trips to the casinos, playing cards with her friends at the Cheboygan Moose Lodge, and Bunco with her girlfriends. She will be missed by her family and many friends.
Family will receive friends Thursday, September 15th at Sacred Heart Church in Riggsville at 10:00 a.m. with Funeral Mass at 11:00 with Fr. Arthur Duchnowicz officiating. Burial immediately following at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the K of C Hall in Cheboygan.
