Carl Phillips

Carl Melford Phillips Jr., 79, of Cheboygan, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 26, 2024.

He was born in Saginaw on September 22, 1945 to Carl Melford Phillips Sr. and Martha Louise (Livingston) Phillips.

In addition to raising 5 children, Carl worked at Procter & Gamble of Cheboygan for 20+ years. He transferred to Pennsylvania when the plant closed and returned to Cheboygan 3 years later and worked at Kewadin Casino before retiring from Walmart. Carl loved spending time with family, gardening, farming, and watching western and action movies. What he loved most of all was joking around with friends and family, his sense of humor is a characteristic he has passed on to his children and grandchildren.

Carl is survived by his 5 children, Taresa Dixon of North Dakota, Chris (Shelly) Phillips of St. Ignace, Scott (Jackie) Phillips of Commerce Twp., Melissa Phillips of Cheboygan, Bobbie (Andy) Beckman of Cheboygan; 17 grandchildren, Travis, Kayla, Nathan, Josh, Jamie, Natasha, Aaron, Tori, Zoey, Anthony, Justin, Mackenzie, Jon, Abby, Tyler, Quinton, and Grayson; 17 great grandchildren, Taylor, Jaxon, Xanion, Izaac, JayLynn, Eli, Lucas, Santana, Octavia, Renezzmai, Anastasia, Hayden, Hazel, Mason, August, Kaspain, and Connor. Carl is also survived by 1 sister, Temperance Sheppard and 1 brother Paul (Sherry) Phillips, Loraine (Tony) Surdock.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Carl and Martha Phillips, his 3 sisters Shirley Ring, Martha Karpuk, Beverly Thornton, Terry Bailey, ex-wife Donna Phillips, great grandchildren Nakai, and Nico Garlock.

Carl requested a private memorial, which will take place in the spring. The family will provide
details at a later date and wishes to thank everyone for their kind thoughts and prayers.
