Carmen Yoder

1939 - 2023

Carmen Janette Yoder, age 84, left this world behind on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, while at home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born at home in Bliss Township on March 31, 1939, to her parents, Maynard and Bernice (Patterson) Keiser.

On May 2, 1957, she married Eddie Gene Yoder, who preceded her in death in 2004. Ed and Carmen settled in Mackinaw City in 1965 and raised their four children there. Carmen was a devoted mother, loving grandmother, a great sister, and caring aunt who enjoyed traveling with Ethelwyn and Brenda. She also enjoyed playing card games and dominoes with her loved ones and doing crosswords every Sunday with her dear friend, Theodora. She often would joke that she enjoyed spending her kids’ inheritance at the casino. Carmen loved her home on The Straits of Mackinac where she could see beautiful sunsets, the view of the bridge and watch the freighters pass by.

She is survived by her four children: Kelly Yoder, Mark (Tonya) Yoder, Matthew (Susan) Yoder, and Karla (Daniel) Dann; her sister, Brenda (Jon) Hall; and sister-in-law, Wanda Keiser. She had five grandchildren: Adam, Todd, Brittany, Brooke, and Blaine; three great-grandchildren: Levi, Vaira, and Hudson; in addition to many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Ethelwyn (Pete) Alexander, Maynard “Bud” (Nancy) Keiser, Richard “Dick” Keiser, and Gary (Jeannette) Keiser.

A graveside memorial service will be held at Lakeview Cemetery in Mackinaw City on August 26th at 12 pm with luncheon to follow at the Mackinaw City High School Pavilion.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Mackinaw City Public Library for her love of reading.

Arrangements are being handled by Beck Funeral Home in Rogers City.
