1930 - 2012Charles F. Mosier Jr. passed to his eternal rewards 21 September 2012
Born 27 December 1930 to
Charles F. Mosier Sr. and Elizabeth Catherine (Gausing) Mosier.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a younger brother David Andrew Mosier.
Mr. Mosier attended parochial and public schools in Middletown Ohio,
Xavier University / University of Detroit graduating with a Bachelor Chemical
Engineering with Graduate Studies at the University of Kansas. He also was a
graduate of Advance Management programs at Harvard University and
Indiana University. He served on active duty with US Air Force 1954 to 1956 and
then active reserve until assigned retired USAF Res Ret with rank of Captain.
He is survived by:
wife, Barbara Mosie;
six children, Elizabeth (Daniel) Fitch, Presque Isle, Julia (Mark) Valenti, Toledo, OH,
Charles F. Mosier III (Gina) Rochester, MN,
John A. Mosier (Special Friend Kristan), Champaign, IL,
Kathleen (Patrick) Audet, Lambertville, MI and
Dr. Kristine Mosier (Yngvar) Indianapolis, IN,
his brother, James (Trish)
as well as seven grandchildren: Elizabeth, Brendan, Annie, Mario, Katy, Joseph and
Adam.
He spent his early career in process and product research with Standard Oil
Development Co. (Exxon Research), Spencer Chemical Co. and Marathon Oil
Operations Research (mathematical modeling). He was appointed Manager of
Programming, Computer Facilities Planning and Remote Computing Departments at
Marathon Oil Company, Findlay, OH. (1966-1981). He was elected Vice President
Management Information, Belco Petroleum Co, (New York) and served until their
merger. He was appointed Director Information Resources, Military Sealift
Command Washington, DC, establishing a satellite computer network connecting
MSC vessels at sea and global MSC shore bases.
He holds multiple US and foreign patents (assigned to various employers), was
elected to Sigma Xi National Science / Engineering Society, named a Fellow of
American Institute of Chemists, and emeritus member of various engineering / science
societies,
An avid boater and a Life Member of United States Power Squadrons serving as
Squadron Commander, Squadron Education Officer, Navigation Instructor at various
squadrons in OH, CT, Northern VA, Alpena and Rogers City, MI.
He is a past President of Presque Isle Harbor Assoc., Hancock County (OH) Catholic
Board of Education, St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church Parish Council,
Findlay, Ohio and various civic organizations. He was a lector at St Mary’s Church
Alpena.
A Memorial Mass will take place on Friday, September 28th, 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary
Catholic Church in Alpena.
