Cleo Smolinski
1954 - 2021Colleen Gail “Cleo” Smolinski, 67, of Posen passed away Friday, December 3, 2021with her family by her side at MidMichigan Hospital in Alpena from Covid.
Cleo was born in Alpena on August 17, 1954 to Michael and Sophie (Wojtowicz) Andrzejewski.
She graduated from Posen High School in 1972 and married her high school sweetheart, Kenny Smolinski, on December 7, 1974. She worked at Wayne Wire for 42 years where she met many lifelong friends. Cleo loved to work in her vegetable and flower gardens. She was a wonderful Polish cook. She also loved to bake, especially with her grandchildren. Cleo was an avid reader and always had a book within arm’s reach. She loved to spend time at the family camp walking the trails, picking mushrooms and watching the wildlife. She was a lifelong member of the Rosary Society. Family and friends meant the world to Cleo, especially when she was blessed to fulfill her role as a grandmother. Cleo was a devoted grandmother and cherished the time she spent with them. They called her Booba. They were the light of her life and the wind beneath her wings, especially when she was battling leukemia and underwent a bone marrow transplant in 2020. She fought other courageous battles including breast cancer and most recently, Covid.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Kenny, mother, Sophie Andrzejewski, sister, Audrey Andrzejewski, sons, Jesse and Shaun (Laura). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Dustin Zajkowski, Makhenna, Ellaure, Skyelar and Jack Smolinski and Brother-in-law Michael (Cheryl) Smolinski.
She was preceded in death by her father, Michael Andrzejewski, brother, Roger Andrzejewski, and brother-in-law Ted Smolinski.
Cleo leaves behind a wonderful legacy of love for each to enjoy who were blessed to know her and be loved by her.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 10th at 10:00 am with Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Casimir Church in Posen.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or your local Humane Society.
A celebration of life will take place in the summer of 2022.
