Clyde Carter
1944 - 20252 Timothy 4:7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.
Clyde Carter, 80, passed away at home peacefully in his sleep in the early morning of February 18, 2025, surrounded by his wife, two daughters, and grandchildren.
Clyde was born to Wallace Carter and Ermil (Biship) Carter in Cheboygan on June 24, 1944. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Phyllis Carter; his two daughters, April Reyna, and Amy Carter; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; his sister, Alta Munson; and his brothers, Al Carter, Mark Ogden, and Neal Ogden.
Clyde sought to serve others in every aspect of his life. He worked at Straits Area Services (SAS) for over 30 years, where he helped individuals faced with unique challenges reach their highest level of independence. Even after retiring, he often visited SAS and brought ice cream sandwiches for the members and staff. In the spring, he would open his sugar shack to SAS to demonstrate the maple syrup-making process and send each member home with freshly made syrup. Like his grandfather and mother before him, he was a devoted pastor who dedicated his life to God. For over 50 years, he served God and others at Shiloh Worship Center. Even throughout his battle with cancer, his faith never wavered. He encouraged others to put their trust in God, for his plan is perfect. He continued to thank God for all his blessings and prayed that only God’s will be done in his life.
A celebration of life will be held at Shiloh Worship Center on June 21st at 1:00.
