David Shafto
1952 - 2022David William Shafto age 69 of Rogers City passed away at home on February 28, 2022.
He was born September 16, 1952 in Pontiac to Godfrey William and Rose Matilda (Riharb) Shafto
Above all, Dave was a “Man after God’s own heart” with great faith. He loved giving witness to the Lord to all he met and especially his family members who do not know the Lord. He used his gifts of leadership and wisdom working for the Lord in music, prayer groups and bible studies with the Word of God being his center.
Dave was a graduate of Michigan State University and enjoyed everything Spartan. He enjoyed spending time in the greenhouse growing plants and working in his landscape business, traveling, especially to see his children and grandchildren, biking the trails in Rogers City with the wind in his face and loved discussing the political events of the day. Being an entrepreneur at heart, Dave spent many years working in the family business in Posen. On November 12, 1988 he married Bernadette Gottler at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Alpena. In retirement, moved to Rogers City. He served his family with great love; where, his daughters Janel and Sarah were the Apple and Pineapple of his eye.
David is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Bernadette; daughter Janel (Chris) Branson; grandchildren, Melah and Maximus Branson of Hawaii, daughter, Sarah Morris and grandson Gage of Temperance; siblings, Cynthia Fleming, Steve Shafto, Cathy Wisniewski, Tim Shafto, Shannon Wilbert and Todd Shafto.
