Delmar Carter

Delmar John “Del” Carter age 71 of Cheboygan passed away peacefully at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey on Thursday, August 3, 2023.

He was born December 26, 1951 in Cheboygan to John and Henrietta (Canell) Carter.

On October 1, 1992 he married Pamela Duffiney in Cheboygan. He was passionate about his work which included auto mechanics and body work. He loved hunting, fishing, camping and riding his motorcycle.

If anyone needed help, he was always willing to help out.

He loved being called Papa, and will be missed by all who knew him.

Del is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Pamela; six children, John (Sara) Carter of Cheboygan, Al (Tina) Carter of Cheboygan, Vicki (fiancée, James McLaughlin) Varty of Cheboygan, David (Genny) Carter of Cheboygan, Cindy (Jeff) Doss of Alanson and Roger (Jenn) Duffiney of Cheboygan; 19 grandchildren, Ashley, Emily, Justine, Haley (Michael), Brandon (Jessica), Kaylee, Alex, Charlie Ann (Joe), Maryn (Megan), Hunter Joli, Jeffery, Zephrin, Gabe, Hannah and Riley; 10 great grandchildren, Evan, Hope, Dominic, Stella, Lawson, Josiah, Ezekiel, Ethan, Israel and Jade; a sister, Rose (Ron Feldman) Adkins of Clinton Township; sisters-in-law, Jean Carter of Pellston and Lori Bell of Cheboygan; and brothers-in-law, Lee Sidell of Pellston and Jack (Ruth) Bell of Cheboygan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Henrietta; a brother, Richard Carter; a sister, Pearl Sidell; a brother-in-law, Clayton (Della) Bell; and a sister-in-law,  Barb (David) Hatt.

A celebration of life will take place at the Carter residence on Saturday, September 9th from Noon until 4 p.m.
