Diana Hudak
1938 - 2015Diana Kay Hudak, age 77, of Rogers City
passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at
Tendercare in Rogers City,
She was born February 10, 1938 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Pontiac
to Robert and Gertrude (Wentworth) Green.
Diana moved to Saginaw from Pontiac when she was 11.She graduated with
honors from Saginaw Arthur Hill High School in 1956, She was awarded
the State Board of Education Scholarship to study education at Central
Michigan University. Graduated with a B.S. from CMU in 1960, and
Master’s Degree in 1981, She came to Rogers City in 1960, and began
teaching grades 4-9 Physical Education and Health.
She met her future husband, Donald, who was also a faculty member at
RCHS. They were married at St. Ignatius on March Ist, 1962. They have
four children, Stephen (Judith) Hudak of Harvey, LA, John (Christine)
Hudak of Rochester Hills, Teresa (Nick) Armold of Portage, and
Ruth (Mark) Benner of Grandville; nine grandchildren; and two great
grandchildren.
Diana always believed in volunteering. She was a little league softball
coach, active with the sports and band boosters, scout leader and
Eucharistic Minister at St. Ignatius Catholic church where she was a
member, In later years, she was a volunteer at the Presque Isle Food
Pantry and at the Historical Museum. She finished her teaching career at
St. Ignatius Catholic School retiring in 2000 after 13 years. She took her
students golfing, to play tennis, bowling and archery. One of her proudest
achievements was to coach two State Champions, while Track Coach at
RCHS for 7 years. She believed that everyone should find an activity they
could pursue for a lifetime. She enjoyed playing cards, functions with the
Red Hats, camping, biking, tennis and spending time with her friends and
family,
Friends may visit at St. Ignatius Catholic Church on Tuesday, June 16th
from 9:00 a.m. through time of her Memorial Mass at 10:00 a.m. with
Fr. Sylvestre Obwaka officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to St. Ignatius
Catholic School, Presque Isle Food Pantry or Friends of the Presque Isle
Library,
