Dolores Merchant

Dolores Ann Merchant age 90 of Ocqueoc passed away peacefully at home on November 4, 2021.

She was born May 13, 1931 in Cheboygan to Otto and Theresa Mendrick.

Dolores graduated from Rogers City High School in 1948. On May 19, 1951 she married Gordon Merchant at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She worked at the Calcite Plant for 30 years as Accounts Receivable Clerk, retiring in 1985. She served as Ocqueoc Township Treasurer for 26 years, retiring in 2020. She was involved in Presque Isle County 4-H for many years as well as serving on the Presque Isle County Fair Board. Dolores was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Moltke and its Ladies Aid Society. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening and collecting lighthouse memorabilia.

She is survived by 2 sons, Gordon Charles of Ocqueoc and Karl (Carleen) of Ithaca; 5 grandchildren, Lillian, Jonathan, Patrick, Stephen, and Jacob; one great granddaughter, Addison; brother, Gerald (Nancy) Mendrick of Rogers City and a sister, Jeanette Williamson of Bay City;  sister-in-law, Virginia Rightenburg of Sandusky; and many nieces and nephews.

Dolores was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon on August 28, 2012.

Friends may visit at the Beck Funeral Home on Monday from 4-8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume on Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Moltke from 10 a.m. until time of her funeral at 11 a.m. with Pastor David Weirauch officiating.

Interment will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Moltke or to their Ladies Aid Society.
