Donald Dehring

1949 - 2017

Donald Dehring of Hawks, age 67,
returned to his heavenly home on April 22, 2017.

His devotion to his family and his firm belief in
God supported him in his struggle and ultimately
gave him peace,

Don was born to the late Julius and Violet (Marquardt) Dehring
in Rogers City on August 7, 1949,

He was immersed in the Christian community that would be his lifelong
support from an early age. As an adolescent he worked with his father,
who taught him the construction business, which he carried on until his
accident in 1999, He loved fishing, hunting, water skiing, playing
baseball and enjoying Lake Nettie. He enjoyed playing spitzer, watching
sports and reading. Don was proud to have been in the military as a
paratrooper with 25 jumps. Don devoted countless hours with Habit for
Humanity, volunteering at St John Lutheran School, and was the president
of St Michael Lutheran Church for the past 16 years, Don was blessed
with a large and loving family, He married his best friend, Brenda Brege,
in 1971. He helped raise his four children dedicating them to God. Don
was an educator at heart. He was kind and soft-spoken, and always had
time to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how small. He
will be dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he
is at peace with his creator

Don is survived by his beloved wife, Brenda;
4 children, Aaron Dehring of Traverse City,
Amanda (Troy) Peplinski of Hawks,
Matthew (April) Dehring of Traverse City,
and Adam (Margo) Dehring of Rogers City;
5 grandchildren, Tylor (Tricia), Jacob, Willow,
Amelia, and Hunter;
4 siblings, Sandy (Dick) Grulke of Lake Nettie,
Janet (Tim) Garant of Lake Nettie,
Bob (Vicki) Dehring of Grand Lake and
Jim (Angie) Claus of Millersburg;
stepdad, Alan Claus of Lake Nettie,
mother-in-law, Marion Brege of Hawks;
sister-in-law, Ellen (Stanley) Solokis of Traverse City and
brother-in-law, John Brege of Hawks.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Violet; and
an infant brother, Mark,

Friends may visit at the Beck Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 25th from
3:00 until 8:00 p.m. where the Rogers City VFW Post 607 will offer a
military tribute at 6:45 followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m,
Visitation will resume on Wednesday at St. Michael Lutheran Church

in Belknap from 10:00 a.m. through time of funeral at 11:00 a.m,
with Pastor Keith Schneider officiating.

Burial will take place at St. Michael Lutheran Cemetery

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Dehring family
for a charity to be selected later
