Donald Hudak
1934 - 2015Donald John Hudak, 81, beloved husband, father,
grandfather and friend passed away Tuesday,
June 2, 2015 at Tendercare in Rogers City, Michigan.
Don was born January 27, 1934 in Wood, Pennsylvania
to John and Helen (Wengzen) Hudak,
He graduated in 1951 from Barnesboro High School and then went to
Kiskiminetas (“Kiski”) Springs Prep school in Saltsburg PA for one year
Don had many recruitment offers to play football and chose Michigan
State University where he graduated in 1956 with a BA in Industrial Arts
Education, He began his career as an Industrial Arts teacher for
Rogers City High School where he set up the first Metal Shop department,
He was then drafted into the Army where he served in Kaiserlautern,
Germany as a Chaplains Assistant from 1957-1959. He returned to his
teaching position and completed his Master Degree in Industrial
Education from MSU and continued his passion for teaching for 36 years.
He leaves:
his wife of 53 years, Diana Kay (Green) Hudak;
his sons, Stephen (Judith) Hudak, John (Christine) Hudak,
daughters, Teresa (Nicholas) Armold and Ruth (Mark) Benner,
nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He is also survived by his sisters, Barbara (Robert) Springer,
Monica (Jack) Maloy, and brother David Hudak along with many
nieces and nephews.
Don enjoyed all outdoors activities. He loved camping in the U_P with
family and friends. He was an avid bird hunter, fisherman and gardener.
He had a great gift for helping others. His story telling and smile will be
sadly missed.
Friends may visit at St. Ignatius Catholic Church on Saturday, June 6th
from 9:00 a.m. until time of his Memorial Mass at 10:00 a.m. with
Fr. Sylvestre Obwaka officiating. Rogers City VFW will accord military
honors following Mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Donald J Hudak
Manufacturing Scholarship at the Alpena Community College Foundation,
