Donald Malocha

Donald “Don” Stanley Malocha age 71, of Rogers City
passed away January 14, 2018 at MidMichigan
Medical Center in Alpena,

He was born March 20, 1946 in Alpena
to Alexander and Alfreda (Ode) Malocha. Don
married Gail Dembny in 1966 in Alpena,

Don was a Rogers City High School graduate, sailed on Great Lakes’
freighters for a few years, worked for the Lisn Phone Company, and then
started his long career at Calcite where he retired from in 2008, Don and
Gail also owned and operated the Woodpecker Shop, where they
manufactured pallets for many years.

Don was a talented welder and a perfectionist when it came to any type of
construction work, especially when it came to building all his children’s
homes, He enjoyed fishing, golfing, camping and played softball for many
years, He also coached peewee football for many years winning a
championship one season. Don’s grandchildren were his pride and joy, he
supported and encouraged them in all they were involved in. He traveled
to every game they had and was their biggest fan,

Don is survived by:
his wife, Gail;
four children, Chad (Dee) Malocha of Buckley,
Michelle (Chuck) Krueger of Hawks,
Shari (Allen) Fleming of Rogers City and
Cory (Stacey) Malocha of Rogers City;
eight grandchildren, Terri Lynn (Dustin) Streich,
Sean (fiancée Caroline) Malocha, Paige Malocha,
Logan Fleming, Hannah Fleming, Lewis Fleming,
Jacob Malocha and Emily Malocha;
two great-grandchildren, Kalli Streich and Ashton Streich;
three brothers, Alex (Barb) Malocha, Allen (Jane Clay) Malocha and
Joseph (Kay) Malocha;
many nieces and nephews;
a special great-niece, Olivia Bauer, who she called Papa; and
his faithful companion, Chance.

He was preceded in death by:
his parents; and
a brother, Jerry “Moose” Malocha.

Friends may visit at the Beck Funeral Home Wednesday, January 17 from
3 p.m, through the time of the funeral at 7 p.m. with the
Rev. James Fitzpatrick officiating.

Memorials may be given to the Rogers City High School Softball/Baseball
program in memory of Donald Malocha
