Donald Martenies

Donald Richard Martenies Sr., Age 81, of Rogers City
passed into the presence of the Lord on Thursday April 7, 2011.

Don was born in Lansing, February 24, 1930
to Viola (Camp) and Fred Martenies.

He lived in Southern Michigan during his childhood. He married Beverly Chambers
on October 1, 1949 in Sheridan. He and Bev moved to Rogers City shortly after
where he spent the remainder of his life. He sailed for 21 years for the Bradley Fleet.
His enjoyment has been building, remodeling his home and others, including the
initial building of Sunrise Assembly of God and then the construction expansion
many years later. He also participated in mission projects to Florida to rebuild
ministries after hurricanes had devastated. He loved to garden and every year had
new plans to improve the gardens. He loved his wood shop and was always building
something and collecting lumber.

his wife Beverly,
children Kathy Jo and Sherry Lynn of Rogers City,
Laura Lee of Pine City, Minnesota, and Michaelene of Hubbard Lake,
his grandchildren, Sigrid, Todd, Jon, Becky, Rod, Nate, Jarrett, Blanche,
and Sheena;

Great grandchildren, Gabe, ZaraEden, Xavier, Katie, Logan, Dillon, Wolfgang,
Brianne, Kaitlyn, Colton, Zaiden, Tegen, Mason, Aiden, Malaia
and Quentin.

He is also survived by his sisters Phyllis and Joyce, brother James,
brother-in-law, Dale (Kathy) Chambers and sister-in-law, Glee Chambers-Whinnery.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ray and his only son, Donald Jr.

Pastor Randy Waibel will conduct his memorial service at Sunrise Assembly of God,
450 Linden St. Rogers City, on Saturday, April 9th at 1:00 p.m..

Inurnment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Sheridan, Michigan.
Memorials may be given to Sunrise Assembly of God.

Cremation arrangements are in the care of Beck Funeral Home.
