Dr. Jesus C. Neri Jr., MD

Dr. Jesus C. Neri Jr., MD, age 78 of Rogers City passed away October 6, 2019 at MidMichigan Medical Center in Alpena.

He was born September 3, 1941 in the Philippines to Jesus and Proserpina (Carreon) Neri.

Jesus graduated from Ozamiz City High School then went on to graduate from Southwestern University Medical School in the Philippines. On December 10, 1967 he married Glenda Mayol in Cebu City. The Neris moved to the United States in 1975 and lived in Flint. They moved to Rogers City in 1983. Dr. Neri practiced in Posen, Rogers City and Onaway until 1991. Dr. and Mrs. Neri moved to Oklahoma where he practiced at Reynolds Army Hospital for several years until returning to Northern Michigan to practice at Mackinac Straits Hospital in St. Ignace until 2006. Dr. Neri worked at the Kinross Correctional Facility until his retirement in 2014. He enjoyed playing the piano for relaxation.

Dr. Neri is survived by his wife, Glenda; two sons, Marvyn Neri of Sault Ste. Marie and Gilbert Neri of the Philippines; one daughter, Madeleine (Gary) Guevara of Green Bay, Wisconsin; eight grandchildren, Henry, Lukas, Justin, Jaden, Lucia, Elijah, Simon and Joachin; two brothers, Rolando (Pablita) Neri and Jorge (Simplicia) Neri III; and one sister, Paulette (Manet) Tabuculde.

He was preceded in death by; his parents, Jesus and Proserpina and a brother, Felipe.

Friends may visit at the Beck Funeral Home on Monday, October 21st from 4-8 p.m. where the Rosary Society will lead the Rosary at 6:30 followed by the Parish Wake Service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, October 22nd at St. Ignatius Catholic Church from 9 a.m. until time of Mass at 10 a.m. with Fr. Rolando Silva officiating.

Inurnment will take place in the Philippines at a later date.
