Edward McBrearty

1953 - 2017

Edward Michael McBrearty, 63, of 397 Ranch Road, Topinabee,
passed away Sunday, February 12, at home.

Ed was born in Highland Park May 14, 1953,
the son of Emma Helen (Lepalla) and Edward McBrearty.

Ed grew up downstate and graduated from Dondero High School in Royal
Oak. He was a star baseball pitcher and was drafted out of high school by
the California Angels. A shoulder injury ended his baseball dreams. He
received his bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Lake Superior
State in the carly ’80’s, and went on to become a licensed contractor. He
loved the challenge of a difficult roofing job! His heart health forced him
to stop heavy work several years ago, but until the end he was willing to
help a friend or neighbor with a project!

He is survived by:
his sister Gail and brother Barry, and
his nieces and nephews.
Ed is also survived by a group of friends that were family to him – his
very special friend Mary Davis, lifelong friend John G., former wife Kris,
and dear neighbors Jackie and Bob, Chuck and Carol, and Joyce.

Ed was preceded in death by both of his parents.

He was the “go to” guy for his friends and neighbors, always willing to
lend a helping hand. He will be greatly missed.

Ed has been cremated and no services are planned at this time.

Anyone wishing to honor Ed’s memory is encouraged to make a donation
in his name to the Cheboygan County Humane Society or
Hospice of the Straits.
