1931 - 2022

Edward Wendry age 90 of Rogers City passed away April 13, 2022 at Medilodge in Rogers City.

He was born April 23, 1931 in Detroit to Anthony and Josephine (Zielinski) Wendrychowicz.

During the Korean Conflict, Ed served as a Fireman for the Navy aboard the USS Moale. He was united in marriage with Charlotte Ann Davis on November 26, 1949. He often referred to his marriage as “the best thing that ever happened to me.” In 1956, he joined the Michigan State Police, retiring as a Sergeant in 1981. Shortly after retirement, Ed and Charlotte moved to Rogers City, to be closer to their family. In Rogers City, Ed helped coach Pee Wee Football and high school golf. He also maintained the Little League Fields, and kept them in such pristine condition that the Girls Softball State Finals were held in Rogers City. Ed also worked at the Marina for several years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, telling stories and sharing his many hobbies.

Ed is survived by his wife of 72 years, Charlotte; children, Steven of Houghton Lake, Gene (Denise) of Kentucky and Donna (Ken) Bielas of Rogers City; grandchildren, John (Jane) Bielas, Eric (Jen) Bielas, Heidi (Zach) Stroup, Elijah Wendry, Uriah (Hannah) Wendry, Nathan (Jocelyn) Wendry, Joshua (Gloria) Wendry, Jacob Wendry, Hannah Wendry, Bethany Wendry and Catherine Wendry; great grandchildren, Daniel, Austin, Bode, Katelyn, Chelsie and Barrett Bielas and Maylene, Gabriella, Carlee and Georgia Wendry; and two sisters, Dorothy Smith and Sandra Perez.

A memorial service will take place at a later date.
