Walter Durecki
1930 - 2010Walter Wallace “Wally” Durecki age 80 of Rogers City
passed away October 2, 2010 at
Tendercare Health Center of Rogers City
He was born June 11, 1930 in Rogers City
to Frank and Frances (Hincka) Durecki
Wally was stationed in Germany while he served in the United States Army. He sailed
with the American Steamship Company and retired in1990. Mr. Durecki was a
member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church, the Rogers City Servicemen’s Club, and
the J. W. B. Hunt Club. He was a past member of the American Legion. Wally was
an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by:
2 sisters, Cecila Bunner of Rogers City,
Frances (Rapheal “Ray”) Lenard of Rogers City;
1 brother, Leo (Sally) Durecki of Rogers City;
special cousin, Joe Schefke;
2 dog friends, Max and Buddy
Wally was preceded in death by:
parents, Frank & Frances;
brother, Harry;
sister, Helen McLean;
wife, Ann
Friends may visit the Beck Funeral Home on Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. where
the rosary will be recited at 6:30 followed by the parish wake service at 7:00 p.m.
conducted by Sr. Rita Epple. Visitation will resume at St. Ignatius Catholic Church
on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of mass at 10:00 a.m. with
Fr. Arthur Duchnowicz officiating. Rogers City VFW will offer a military tribute
following mass.
Interment will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given St. Ignatius School or
Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Walter W. Durecki
