Elayne McElmurry
1921 - 2013Elayne J. McElmurry, age 92 of Rogers City,
passed away Friday, September 13, 2013 in Alpena.
She was born July 18, 1921 in Detroit
to Edward and Alice (Lamb) Berg.
Elayne moved to Rogers City as a young child and graduated from
Rogers City School in 1939.
On October 2, 1942 she married Vern L. McElmurry in Detroit.
Elayne and Vern owned and operated the Huron Café in Rogers City.
She was a Detroit Tigers fan and enjoyed watching baseball, playing
cards, bowling, gardening, and was an avid reader. She also enjoyed
being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother to her family.
Elayne was a member of St Luke’s Episcopal Church in Rogers City.
Mrs. McElmurry is survived by:
a son, Craig (Roberta) McElmurry and
a daughter, Shannon (Bernard) Andrzejewski both of Alpena;
grandchildren, Eric McElmurry, Robert McElmurry,
Kelly (Paul) Romel and Kyle Andrzejewski;
great grandchildren, Robert McElmurry Jr., Riley McElmurry,
Ryan McElmurry, Brendon McElmurry and
Bridgette Andrzejewski,
She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Betty Dehring, Helen Berg and
Rita McElmurry.
Elayne was proceeded in death by:
her parents Edward and Alice;
husband Vern;
brothers, Edward “Junior” Berg and Jack Berg.
Friends may visit at the Beck Funeral Home on Sunday, September 15th
from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the funeral home
on Monday from 12-noon through the time of her funeral at 1:00 p.m.
Internment will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church or
a charity of your choice in memory of Elayne McElmurry.
