1947 - 2019Elizabeth Ruth Curtis age 86 of Ocqueoc Township
passed away peacefully at herdaughter’s home
in Waverly Twp. on February 4, 2019, surrounded
by her family,
She was born June 15, 1932 in Moltke Twp.
to John and Martha (Schaedig) Brege.
Elizabeth, or Betty as she was known to all, was baptized on July 3, 1932
and confirmed on May 4, 1947 by Rev. Herman Heinecke, both at
Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she was a lifelong member.
Betty graduated from Rogers City High School in
1951, On September 27, 1952 she was married to
Raymond Curtis at Immanuel Lutheran Church by
the Rev. Herbert Meyer, They made their home in
Ocqueoc and were blessed with 48 years of
marriage, Betty was gifted with a beautiful voice
and sang with her sister, Lois in local
competitions, at parties, and for many years in
the church choir, She played the organ, piano, and
guitar, Betty loved gardening, canning, and
reading
She worked as a bookkeeper for her husband Ray in their logging
business. She doted on her three daughters and eventually got to spoil
her five grandchildren with late night snacks and playing games at the
kitchen table, In recent years, she loved to cuddle her great-grandchildren
while rocking and singing lullabies, Betty was a warm, loving, and caring
wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her passing will leave
a void in many lives, She will be lovingly remembered for her German
potato salad and her love of chocolate,
Betty is survived by:
three daughters, Susan (Dennis) Rhode of Moltke,
Robin (Don) Grainger of Onaway and
Kelli (Dean) Stockwell of Onaway;
five grandchildren, Jessica (Gene) Chandler of Vanderbilt,
Robert Rhode of Marquette,
Jason (Stephanie) Grainger of Elmira,
Kari (Ron) Greenway of Marquette and
Justin (Allie Burritt) Stockwell of Traverse City;
six great-grandchildren, Clinton, Isabella, Destini, Wyatt, Hunter and
Kennedi;
a brother, Eugene (Mayreen) Brege of Moltke;
three sisters-in-law, Dolores Brege of Moltke,
Agnes Schaedig of Rogers City and
Dolena Curtis of Ocqueoc;
as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond;
parents, John and Martha Brege;
four brothers, Norman Brege, Howard Brege, Wilbert Brege and
Herbert (Shirley) Brege; and
two sisters, Laura (Wallace) Roeske and Lois (George) Patzer
Friends may visit at the Beck Funeral Home on Tuesday, February Sth
from 4-8 pm with a prayer service at 7 p.m, Visitation will resume on
Wednesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church from 10 a.m, until time of her
funeral at 11 a.m, with Pastor Kurt Lambart officiating.
Interment will take place in the spring at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

Immanuel Lutheran Church or Hospice of Michigan
