Elmer Shubert
1927 - 2022Elmer T. Shubert passed away peacefully on 4 May 2022 at the age of 95 in Alpena, Michigan.
He was born in 1927 in Wall Township, New Jersey.
In 1948, he married Constance Petches Shubert, and remained a resident of Wall Township until he moved to Fort Pierce, Florida in 1997. He remained in Fort Pierce until he left to reside with his daughter and her husband, Shirley and Jim Hayden in Michigan in April 2022. He was exceptionally proud to serve his country in the United States Navy during World War II, in the Pacific Theater. He continued his service to our country as a civilian employee supporting the United States Army at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey. Highlights of his career include assignments at the Satellite Communications Agency (SATCOMA) and the Communications-Electronics Command (CECOM) Directorate of Material Management (DMM). He retired in 1987 with 41 years of service.
He was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Constance Petches Shubert, and his wife of 10 years, Lorraine Matteson; his parents, Ernest and Elsie Shubert of Wall Township, NJ; three brothers, Tom and Jerry of Wall Township, and Ed of Apple Valley Minnesota; a sister and her husband Pauline and Donald Newman of Belmar, NJ and Fort Pierce, Florida.
Surviving him are three daughters and their husbands, Elsie and Lamar Hickman of Lake Martin, AL; Shirley and James Hayden of Ocqueoc Michigan; Sharon and Takeo Ishimasa of Eatontown, NJ; and his beloved granddaughter Cat Ishimasa. Also surviving him is his very best friend who loved and supported him in sickness and in health, Marlene Roske of Vero Beach, Florida.
He was an exceptionally kind person who will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He loved nature, as well as all animals, and cared deeply for a considerable feral cat community that resided on the property of his Florida home. He loved old school country music, studio wrestling, and Fox News.
