Emil Plath, Jr.
1927 - 2010Emil Plath Jr. “Moe” age 82 of Rogers City
passed away April 29, 2010 at his home
in Orlando, Florida
He was born December 8, 1927 in Rogers City
to Emil and Clara (Pankowski) Plath
Moe graduated from Rogers City High School in 1945. On
December 31, 1949 he married Edna Helen Dagner. Emil served in the
United States Navy. He was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church,
Knights of Columbus, Lions Club, Rogers City Country Club Board, and a
former county commissioner for over 20 years. Emil was retired from the
family business, Plath’s Meats, which he purchased from his father,
Emil Sr., in 1950. Moe enjoyed golf, playing cards, cooking at family
gatherings, and coffee time with the guys.
Emil is survived by:
his wife of 60 years Helen;
5 sons, Jeff, Tim (Janis), James (Virginia), John (Kathy) all of Rogers City,
and Mark (Audrey) of Petoskey;
13 grandchildren, Angela, Adam, Alicia, Aaron, Casee, Alaina, Lauren, Elly,
Jonathan, Cameron, Nicholas Emil, Zane and Hailey
4 great grandchildren, Kelsey, Jacob, Allan, and Jaxson;
2 sisters, Gertrude Belz and Alice Pines.
He was preceded in death by:
2 sisters, Helen Jackson and Dorothy Smart
Friends may visit at the Beck Funeral Home on Friday, May 7th from
9:00 a.m, through time of funeral at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Bud Smith
officiating.
Rogers City VFW Post #607 will accord military honors during graveside
services at Memorial Park Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the
Rogers City Knights of Columbus Hall.
