Ernest Blake
1926 - 2014Ernest “Ernie” Irvin Blake age 88 of Rogers City,
passed away September 3, 2014 at Alpena Regional
Medical Center.
He was born January 3, 1926 in Detroit
to Theodore and Marie (Lazawicz) Blake.
Ernie served in the Pacific Theater while in the United States Navy during
World War II. On June 16, 1956 he married Susan Mulka at St. Ignatius
Catholic Church. Mr. Blake retired as vice president of Presque Isle Bank
in 1987,
He enjoyed swimming, biking, walking, sailing, winning at spitzer and
time spent at Buckhurst Hunting Camp.
Ernie is survived by:
his wife Susan;
3 children, Kathy (Todd) Rose of San Jose,
Susann (Louis) Nordrum of Corte Madera, and
Robert Blake of San Jose;
6 grandchildren, Jacqueline (Nick) Howe, Keith Rose, Blake Rose,
Susanna Nordrum, Josephine Nordrum, and
Christina Nordrum;
1 sister, Geraldine “Gerri” Kobierski of South Gate; and
many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by:
parents, Ted and Marie;
3 babies, James, Mary and John,
Friends may visit at St. Ignatius Catholic Church on Tuesday, July 21st
from 9:00 a.m. until time of his Memorial Mass at 10:00 a.m. with
Fr. Sylvestre Obwaka officiating, Rogers City VFW Post 607 will accord
military honors immediately following Mass.
Inurnment will follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery,
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Alpena Regional Medical
Center’s Hospice Wing or St. Ignatius Catholic School in memory
of Ernie Blake.
