Ethel Kreft
1920 - 2012Ethel D. Kreft, 91 of Belknap, went to be with her Lord peacefully
from Tendercare Health Center in Rogers City on November 1, 2012.
She was born to Adolph and Dorothea (Schaedig) Karsten
on December 16, 1920.
Ethel was happily married on November 10, 1951 to Ralph Kreft. She worked for a
short time during the war at a factory in Detroit and at Calcite in Rogers City. She
then worked at a family owned business, Karsten’s Dairy, as waitress and cook until
retiring in 1986, Ethel was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church serving in
various groups such as PTL, Altar Guild, Sunday School, Women’s Missionary
League, and until recently helped sew quilts to send to the needy. Her faith was an
important part of her life.
She felt truly blessed to have 6 wonderful grandchildren, Lacey, Chelsea, and Kaylee
bor to Randy and Karen Kreft, and Jacob, Sandra, and Michael bom to
Roland and Karen Zinke.
Ethel is survived by:
her husband of 61 years, Ralph;
a brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence and Deanna Karsten;
sister-in-law, Anne Karsten; and
sister-in-law, Joy Karsten.
She was preceded in death by:
her sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Alfred Haneckow;
brothers, Walter and Lewis Karsten.
Friends may visit at St. John Lutheran Church on Tuesday, November 6th from
1:00 p.m. through time of her memorial service at 3:00 p.m. with
Pastor John Schreiber officiating.
Inurnment will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. John Lutheran Church
in memory of Ethel Kreft.
