Eugene Buczkowski
1933 - 2013Eugene Joseph “Corky” Buczkowski, age 80 of Rogers Township,
passed away peacefully on August 17, 2013 at home
with his loving family by his side.
He was born March 26, 1933 in Rogers City
to Valentine and Jennie (Smolinski) Buczkowski.
Corky graduated from Rogers City High School, On November 8, 1952 he married
Norma Jean Baker at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, then in March of 1953 he was
sent to Alaska where served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He retired from Calcite after 38 years of service.
Mr. Buczkowski is survived by:
his wife of 60 years, Norma;
4 children, Brad of Lake Orion, Gerald of Mt. Pleasant,
Jennie (Karl) Klingshirn of Rogers City, and
David (Rose) of Grand Rapids;
11 grandchildren, Kurt (Kilanni), Kory, Alicia, Amanda, Katie (Adam) Bennett,
Kaitlin, Erika, Megan, Lauren, Hunter, and Logan;
5 great grandchildren, Mya, Luke Andrew, Noelanni, Lilahbelle, and Izabelle;
5 siblings, William (Janet) of Posen, Norman (Blanche) of Rogers City,
Edward (Mary) of Kalamazoo, Jim (Carol) of Alpena, and
Madelyn (Larry) Knapp of Grand Rapids;
sister-in-law, Janct Buczkowski of Rogers City.
He was preceded in death by:
his parents, Valentine and Jennie;
son, Charles;
grandson, Brett;
3 sisters, Gladys, Delores, and Janice;
1 brother, Ralph.
Friends may visit at St. Ignatius Catholic Church on Wednesday, August 21st from
10:00 a.m. until time of his Memorial Mass at 11:00 a.m. with
Rey. Sylvestre Obwaka officiating. Rogers City VFW will accord military honors
following Mass.
Inurnment will take place at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Ignatius Catholic School or
Hospice of the Sunrise Shore in memory of Eugene “Corky” Buczkowski.
Corky’s wish was to have Beck Funeral Home assist his family in donating his body
to Wayne State University for medical research.
