Eugene Wenzel

Eugene Royal Wenzel 84 of Rogers Township passed away February 8, 2026 at Medilodge in Rogers City.

He was born August 19, 1941 in Rogers City to Richard and Lorene (Curtis) Wenzel.

Gene served in the United States Army from 1959 through 1962 and was stationed in France. On December 19, 1964 he married Etta Eileen Gilbert in Hazel Park. He owned Eugene Wenzel Excavating and was a member of Operator’s Local 324. Gene enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Eileen; daughter, Kimberly Wenzel; three grandchildren, Tony Brown, Corey Brown and Kayla Brown; two great grandsons, Waylen Royal and Benjamin Lloyd; and siblings, Ronald (Betty), Terry, Richard, Gerald and Lila.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Lorene; a brother, Mickey.

A memorial service will take place a later date.

Inurnment will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Hospice Compassus in memory of Eugene Wenzel.
