Francis Derry
1925 - 2009Francis E. “Frank” “Bub” Derry age 84 of Rogers City
went home to be with his sweet Katie and our Lord on
Monday, November 2, 2009 with his family by his side.
He was born October 17, 1925 in Rogers City
to Charles and Frances (Thompson) Derry
Frank lived for the outdoors. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and trapper.
Frank married Kathleen “Katie” Duke at a joint wedding with his only brother,
Thomas, and her only sister, Eileen, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Detroit on
January 19, 1946. He was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church and a longtime
member of the Knights of Columbus. Bub was also a member of the
Norway Pine Hunting Club, and an Elder with the Sault Ste. Marie Band of the
Chippewa Tribe. Frank retired from Abitibi Corporation in 1987. Mr. Derry loved
spending time with his family.
He is survived by:
5 daughters, Pat (Larry) Losinski of Alpena, Mary (Reid) Miner of Cary, NC,
Cathy (Rick) Reisig of Wixom, Fran (Dean) Ristow of Rogers City, and
Lisa (Daryl) Rhode of Rogers City
9 grandchildren, Jenny (Keith) Moulds, Brant (Sicily) Losinski,
Gregory (Alissa) Miner, Sara Miner, Corey (Angic) Brege,
Joe Brege, Cassy Brege, Mark Rhode, and Matthew Rhode
7 great grandchildren, McKenna Moulds, Lilly Losinski, Kayla Moulds,
Lachlan Miner, Isabella Miner, Caden Brege, and
Landen Brege
3 sisters, Catherine Janeski, Rose (James) Leeck, and Marge “Pudge” Ziclaskowski
1 sister in law, Eileen Derry
Frank was preceded in death by:
his wife, Kathleen;
brother, Thomas; and
sister, Iris “June” Bruning
Friends may visit the Beck Funeral Home on Thursday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m.
with rosary at 6:30 followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.. Visitation will resume
on Friday at St. Ignatius Catholic Church from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass at
10:00 a.m. with Fr, Clarence Smolinski officiating.
Burial will take place at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be given the Caring Place of Alpena or St. Ignatius Catholic School
in memory of Francis Derry.
