Frank Witkowski
1933 - 2014Frank Albert Witkowski , age 80 of Rogers City,
passed away peacefully at home on April 1, 2014.
He was born May 18, 1933 in Rogers City
to Frank and Josephine (Hincka) Witkowski.
Frank graduated from Rogers City High School in 1951. He served in the
United States Army as a Corporal from April of 1953 to April of 1955,
On February 8, 1958 he married Naomi Prince at St. Ignatius Catholic
Church, Frank retired as a 2nd Cook from the Great Lakes Fleet in 1993.
He was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Rogers City
Servicemen’s Club, and the spitzer bar league. He enjoyed playing cards
and spending time in the outdoors.
Mr. Witkowski is survived by:
his wife of 56 years, Naomi;
3 daughters, Madelene “Maggie” (Tom) Wirgau of Three Rivers,
Josie (Bob) Peltz of Rogers City, and
Eileen (Dan) Vekaryasz of Mt. Cory, Ohio;
12 grandchildren, Amanda (Mike) Carr,
Leann (John Underferth) Vekaryasz, Brandon Wirgau,
Nickolas (Lori) Vekaryasz, Garrett Vekaryasz,
Dustin (Tony Patterson) Peltz, Travis Peltz,
Kortnee Vekaryasz, Billy Henthorne, Gracie Vekaryasz,
Alexis Vekaryasz, and Ayanna Vekaryasz;
5 great grandchildren, Elijah Vekaryasz, Jordyn Mankin, Adam Carr,
Frank Vekaryasz, and Sophia Wirgau;
6 siblings, Agnes (Roy) Savage, Eleanor Kiesel, Richard Witkowski,
Walter “Pete” (Sally) Witkowski, Janet (Phillip) Whitehouse,
and Louis Witkowski;
many nieces and nephews,
He was preceded in death by:
his parents, Frank and Josephine;
5 siblings, Genevieve Witkowski, Edward, Estelle Plume,
Martha Witkowski, and Dorothea LaLonde.
Friends may visit at the Beck Funeral Home on Thursday (April 3rd),
from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m, Fr. Sylvestre Obwaka will celebrate his
Mass of resurrection at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at St. Ignatius Church.
Posen VFW Post 7804 will accord military honors following Mass.
There will not be public viewing on Friday,
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Rogers City Montessori
or Hospice of the Sunrise Shore.
