George Mason

1944 - 2020

George Edward Mason, age 76 of Belding passed away peacefully on December 29, 2020 with his loving family by his side at his niece and nephew’s home in Millersburg.

He was born August 24, 1944 in Belding to Nathan and Emma (Renz) Mason.

On May 1, 1982 he married Pauline Kreft of Belknap. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend to all who met him. He loved God and valued his relationship with “the man upstairs”. He loved talking like Donald Duck to anyone, young or old, who looked like they may need a smile.

He worked for 44 years at Electrolux in Belding and Greenville, building refrigerators and air conditioners. Most of those years he spent as a fork lift operator and team leader for the facility maintenance area. He enjoyed his time at work and made numerous friends over the years.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Nathan and Emma, and two brothers, Bill and Jack Mason.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Pauline; two children, Sam (Diane) Mason of Belding, and Missy (Larry) Sheffield of Olive Branch, Mississippi; four grandchildren, Nathan (Danielle) Mason, Kathryn (Alan) Sheffield, Alisha German, and Dylan Sheffield; five great grandchildren; siblings, Donald (Helen) Mason, Jimmy Mason, Francis Strouse, Mary Mason, and Delores (Gene) Cummings; brothers-in law, Phil (Mary) Kreft, Henry (Linda) Kreft, David (Mary) Kreft, and sisters-in-law, Linda Marsh, Christine Lear, Betty (Lou) Gouley, and Ruth Switzer; and several nieces and nephews. He truly loved his family, near and far, and cherished any family get togethers where he could visit with everyone there. He will be truly missed by all who knew him, and his memory cherished forever.

Memorials may be given to Hospice of Michigan or a charity of your choice.
