George P. Sobeck
1936 - 2008George P. Sobeck age 71 of Rogers City passed away
October 1, 2008 at home.
He was born October 16, 1936 in Rogers City to
George & Cecelia (Kowalski) Sobeck
George graduated from Orchard Lake St. Mary’s in 1954. On
January 16, 1960 he married Karen Newson at St. Augustine Catholic
Church in Boyne Falls. He served in the United States Army from
May 10, 1960 until May 11, 1962. Mr Sobeck retired in 1999 as a cook
with the Great Lakes Fleet.
George is survived by:
wife, Karen
4 children, Tom & Heather, Tim, George & Joanne, and
Jan & Victor Lemmon
8 grandsons, T.J., Alex, Zach, Joe, Daniel, Noah, Jacob, and Sam
5 sisters, Marge & Ralph Erickson, Joan & Chuck Dettloff,
Betsy & Rodney Fleming, Kari Sobeck, and Judy Grulke
3 brothers, Dick & Vivian, John & Julie, and Michael
He was preceded in death by:

Friends may visit at the Beck Funeral Home on Friday, (Oct. 3rd) from
2:00 until 8:00 p.m. where the rosary will be recited at 6:30 followed by
the parish prayer service at 7:00 p.m.. Visitation will continue at the
funeral home on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m..
Fr. Charles Donajkowski will celebrate his mass of resurrection at
St. Ignatius Catholic Church on Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
Rogers City V.F.W. Post #607 will offer a military tribute during graveside
services at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery
Memorials may be given to St. Ignatius Catholic School or
a charity of your choice.
