Gerald Kelley

passed away February 18, 2009 at
Alpena Regional Medical Center
He was born May 8, 1927 in Rogers City
to Stanley and Frances (Romel) Kieliszewski
Gerald started his sailing career with US Steel at the age of 16 aboard the
Irvin L. Clymer. He served in the United States Army from 1945 until 1947
and was stationed in Germany. On August 16, 1952 he married
Lucille Orban at St. Casimir Catholic Church. Mr. Kelley owned and
operated his own trucking company from 1952 through 1956. He retired in
1990 from the Great Lakes Fleet as 2nd cook. After 43 years of sailing, he
finished his career aboard the George A. Sloan. Mr. Kelley was a member
of St. Ignatius Catholic Church and a 3rd degree member of the
Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by:

2 sons, Stephen & Nancy of Superior, WI, and Robert & Susan of Moltke
1 granddaughter, Nikole & Jordan Skipp of Hudsonville, MI
2 brothers, Clarence & Esther Kelley and Richard & Angie Kicliszewski
2 sisters, Amelia Boczek and Blanche Bork
many nicces and nephews

Friends may visit at the Beck Funeral Home on Friday, (Feb. 20th) from
2:00 until 8:00 p.m. where the Rosary will be recited at 6:30 by the Knights
of Columbus followed by the Parish Wake Service at 7:00 p.m. with
Sr. Rita Epple conducting.
Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:30 until
10:30 a.m..
Fr. Charles Donajkowski will celebrate his mass of resurrection at
St. Ignatius Catholic Church on Saturday at 11:00 a.m..
Rogers City V.F.W. #607 will offer a military tribute following mass.
Luncheon will take place at the Rogers City Knights of Columbus Hall
Interment will take place at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to St. Ignatius Catholic School or Church in
memory of Gerald Kelley.
