passed away March 2, 2011 at Tendercare Health Center
of Rogers City
She was born March 8, 1928 in Rogers City
to John and Clara (Zapezynski) Gapezynski
Mrs. Kortman was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, it’s Ladies Aid and the
Quilting Circle. She loved her flower gardens, especially her Dinner Plate Dahlias.
She enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren, reading, making jigsaw puzzles on the
kitchen table, working crossword puzzles, collecting clowns of many sizes and colors,
and eating chocolate. Gertie will be remembered as a collector of collectibles.
Mrs. Kortman is survived by:
7 children, Tim (Helen) Paul of North Carolina, Linda (Ron) Jett of Florida,
Ken (Lil) Paul of Texas, Todd (Dawn) Kortman of Johannesburg,
Gail (Jeff) Kristola of Marquette, Eric (Sharon) Kortman of Whittemore,
and Carla (Gene) Eperjesi of Pennsylvania;
12 grandchildren;
1 sister, Evelyn Talaska of Indiana and
1 brother, Art (Edith) Gapezynski of Rogers City.
Gertie was preceded in death by:
her husband, Ernest on February 23, 2011;
2 brothers, Gerald and John.
Friends may visit at the Beck Funeral Home Saturday, March 5th from 10:00 a.m.
through time of memorial service at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor John Schreiber officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. John Lutheran Church Ladies Aid
or St. John Lutheran Church General Fund in memory of Gertrude Kortman.
