Gladys Kandow

1927 - 2015

Gladys Katherine Kandow, 87, of Rogers City
left this earth to be with the Lord Monday, March 9, 2015.

Gladys was born in Alpena on May 25, 1927
to and Anthony and Cecelia (Kline) Donakowski.

She attended St. Mary Catholic School and Alpena High School. Gladys
played bugle and fife flute in the American Legion Band and loved to
sketch. As a young woman she worked at Starlight Restaurant as a
waitress. She met the love of her life, Arthur Kandow, and was married
on January 12, 1952. They made their home in Rogers City where they
raised three children, From 1974-1982 she was employed by St. Ignatius
School. A longtime volunteer at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, she graced
the altar with beautiful flower bouquets and kept the vigil candles well
maintained, In her later years she enjoyed playing cards with her close
friends and trying her luck at local bingo gatherings.

Gladys is survived by:
3 children, Daniel (Nancy) Kandow of Metz,
Susanne (Terry) George of Haslett and
Gordon (Lori) Kandow of Lewiston, New York;
10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren;
1 sister, Blanche Donakowski of Alpena;
1 brother, Otto (Kay) Donakowski of Alpena.

She was preceded in death by:
her husband, parents, and 2 brothers, Edward and Clarence.

In honor of her wishes, a private memorial service will be held at a later
date,

Contributions in memory of Gladys may be directed to St. Ignatius Church,
Alpena Regional Medical Center, Hospice, or personal choice.
