Gretchen Schleben

Gretchen E. Schleben age 94 of Bismark Township
passed away August 7, 2008 at home.

She was born January 22, 1914 in
Green Township, Michigan to
Richard & Emma (Leach) Rex

On February 14, 1935 she married Albert Schleben
at St. James Lutheran Church. Mrs. Schleben worked
on the family farm and cut brush with her husband. She enjoyed playing
spitzer, fishing in Canada, and was know across the country for her
hand knitted stockings.

She is survived by:
5 sons,
Martin (Gert),
Earl (Ann),
Rhinold,
Elmer (Elaine), and
Hailan (Candace)
19 grandchildren
30 great grandchildren
3 great – great grandchildren
4 step-grandchildren
many great grandchildren
several step-great – great grandchildren
sister in law, Ruth Schleben
many nieces and nephews

Gretchen was preceded in death by:
husband, Albert
2 sons, Walter and Donald
2 grandsons, Randy and Charles
1 great granddaughter, Ashley Smigelski
daughter in law, Eva Schleben
sister, Ethel Schleben

Friends may visit at the Beck Funeral Home on Saturday, Aug. 9th
from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
Visitation will resume on Sunday at St. James Lutheran Church
from 1:00 p.m. until the time of her funeral at 2:00 p.m. with
Pastor Waldemar Gies officiating.

Interment will take place in St. James Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to a church of your choice or
Hospice of the Sunrise Shore.
