Helen Berg

Helen V. “Babe” Berg age 98 of Rogers City passed away in Rogers City on August 4, 2022 while holding her granddaughter’s hand.

She was born November 12, 1923 in Rogers City to Alfred and Helen (Wyant) Peltz.

Helen attended Rogers City Public Schools and graduated in 1941. She attended Detroit Business Institute. Helen worked for Presque Isle County and the City of Rogers City for many years. On August 6, 1949 she married D. Jack Berg in Rogers City. In 1983 she retired as magistrate for Presque Isle County. She served on the board of director’s for Shelter Inc., Habitat for Humanity, Board of Canvassers and the Jury Board for Presque Isle County. She was the past president of the Michigan Heart Association, a member of VFW Post 607 Auxiliary and St. Luke Episcopal Church. Helen was proud to have been chosen as Grand Marshal of the 2015 Nautical Festival Parade.

She is survived by granddaughter, Melissa Misner of Lansing; great grandson, Kaiden; several nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews.

Helen was preceded in death by her daughter, Rolene on April 22, 2021; husband, Jack on April 23, 1981; her infant sons, Michael and Matthew; parents; infant brother and sister; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Lee Rayha; nephew, Thomas Rayha; and several cousins.

Friends may visit at the Beck Funeral Home on Saturday, September 17th from 12-Noon through time of her memorial service at 2 p.m.

Inurnment will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Luke Episcopal Church or to a charity of your choice.
