Helen Kowalewsky

Helen Kowalewsky age 84 of Metz
passed away April 5, 2009 at Tendercare Health Center of Rogers City

She was born May 26, 1924 in Detroit to
George and Parasciva “Eva” (Opries) Burlea

On June 24, 1944 she married Leland Sytek in Detroit. The couple moved from Detroit
to Metz and purchased the Metz Lounge. They retired in 1974, Leland passed away on
April 30, 1981, Helen married Donald Kowalewsky on September 15, 1991 and he
passed on January 13, 1999. Mrs. Kowalewsky was a member of St. Dominic Church.

Helen is survived by:
2 sons, Philip (Jan) Sytek of Davison and George (Nancy) Sytek of Gaylord
stepson, David (Kristine) Kowalewsky of Metz
4 grandchildren, David (Wendy) Sytek, Josh (Lisa) Sytek, Kelly (Donald) Haskill, and
Melissa Sytek
2 step grandsons, Aaron and lan Kowalewsky
6 great grandchildren, Andrew, Allison, and Salena Sytek, Adam and Abigail Haskill
and Aidan Knoch
1 sister, Sylvia Fogoros of Sun City, AZ
many nieces and nephews

Friends may visit at the Beck Funeral Home on Wednesday from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m.
with a parish wake service at 7:00 p.m.. Visitation will resume at
St. Dominic Catholic Church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass at
11:00 a.m. with Fr. Charles Donajkowski and Sr. Rita Epple officiating.

Inurnment will take place in St. Dominic Catholic Cemetery next to her
first husband, Leland.

Memorials may be made to St. Dominic Church.
