Helen Plath

1929 - 2016

E. Helen Plath age 86 passed away peacefully
at home in Petoskey on May 24, 2016,

She was born July 8, 1929 in Rogers City
to George and Nora (Lound) Dagner.

Helen married Emil “Moe” Plath on New Year’s Eve 1949. They raised 5
sons and together built Plath’s Meats. Helen was known for her creativity,
her tenacity, and her generous heart. When the World’s Fair was in
Montreal, Canada in 1967, she alone packed up her 5 boys (ages 16 years
to 18 months) into a 12 foot travel trailer, pulling it 766 miles to show
the boys exhibits but unknowingly the courage of a determined mind.
Helen was there to help anyone in need, She was a devout Christian who
was compelled to share her love of Jesus with those around her. No one
could have a conversation with her and not know the gift of a changed
life offered to them by knowing Jesus Christ. She once asked a gas
station attendant in Orlando if he knew where he was going if he died
tonight? He said, “No.” This opened the door for the hope he had
never known and a brighter reason to live.

She ts survived by:
5 sons: Jeff, Tim (Janis), James (Virginia), John (Kathy), all of
Rogers City and Mark (Audrey) of Petoskey,
13 grandchildren,
9 great-grandchildren,
3 sisters: Bonnie Lemons of Alpena,
Susan (Larry) Doyle of Orlando, Florida, and
Sandra (Edward Hufnagle) of West Bloomfield as well as
10 nieces and 15 nephews.

Helen was preceded in death by:
her husband, Emil;
her parents, George and Nora Dagner;
a brother: Bill Dagner;
a sister: Pat Baggot; and
a nephew: Gregory Pines.

A Celebration of Life will take place at the Beck Funeral Home in
Rogers City on Friday, May 27th at 11:00 a.m. with
Pastor Pernell Charles officiating.

Inurnment will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery,

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to:
Bethel Youth Camp or Hospice of the Sunrise Shore.
