Hercil Ide1926 - 2012
Hercil Burton Ide age 85 of Rogers City
passed away May 15, 2012 at Tendercare Health Center
of Rogers City.
He was born September 24, 1926 in Tustin, Michigan
to Merle and Lottie (Raby) Ide
Hercil served in the United States Army from 1944 until 1946, He married his wife
of 64 years, Jean (Frizzell) on January 23, 1948. He worked for the Michigan State
Liquor Commission for 37 years, and moved to Rogers City in 1965 to manage
the State Store. Hercil and his wife Jean were long time members of
St. John Lutheran Church in Rogers City where he served for many years on the
Board of Stewardship. He retired in 1984 and enjoyed the outdoors, including
hunting, fishing, and camping. He also enjoyed bowling, golf, and his 19 years
of wintering in Florida. Hercil will be greatly missed by all.
Mr. Ide is survived by:
his wife, Jean;
4 children, Sherry (Ed) Enlow of Rogers City, Burton (Sheila) Ide of Grand Ledge,
Gordon (Linda) Ide of Rogers City, and
Nancy (Dale) Durecki of Traverse City;
four grandchildren, Monica, Kristen, Andrew, and Adam;
1 great grandson, Joseph;
1 brother, Leon Ide of Tustin;
1 sister, Inez Rood of Swartz Creek;
brother-in-law, Jerry Frizzell of Lakeland, Florida;
sister-in-law, Sandra Ide of Holland;
many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by:
3 sisters, Velma, Doris, and Irene;
2 brothers, Bob and Ken;
2 sisters-in-law, Edna Lou Keith and Katie Ide;
3 brothers-in-law, J.D. Munson, Donald Whittum, and Nathan Keith.
Friends may visit at the Beck Funeral Home on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m.
with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Friday at
St. John Lutheran Church from 10:00 a.m, through time of Service at 11:00 a.m.
with Pastor John Schreiber officiating. Rogers City VFW will offer military honors
following the church service.
Interment will take place at Peace Lutheran Cemetery.
In licu of flowers memorials may be given to St. John Lutheran School or
Hospice of the Sunrise Shore in memory of Hercil Ide.
